Upon completion of the cross-cut test on the coating film, the operator must accurately assess the percentage of flaked area and make a classification.
Traditionally, this assessment has relied on the operator's naked eye. However, due to the difficulty in precisely quantifying the flaking area visually, there have been significant subjective differences in results or classifications, often leading to disputes. To address this issue and enhance the repeatability and reproducibility of cross-cut test results, Biuged has developed an instrument capable of automatically identifying the flaking area.
The BGD 350 Image Recognizer for Cross-cut comprises a hand-held cylindrical structure, designed for convenient placement on the cross-cut area pattern under evaluation. Equipped with a camera and an LED lamp featuring adjustable illumination intensity, this instrument utilizes computer digital image processing (visual automatic analysis) technology to capture photos of the cross-cut area. Subsequently, it analyzes and calculates the digital images, enabling quick and accurate results retrieval.
