Test Charts & Panels
If coatings tests are to be reliable and reproducible, they must be performed on a substrate that is reasonably consistent from test to test. Unfortunately, ordinary commercial sheet steel displays wide variations in surface properties, which can affect the bonding of coatings.
Solvica’s Test Substrates provide a uniform and consistent surface for testing paints, coatings, and adhesives. Panels are available in a variety of substrates, surface finishes, sizes, and shapes. They are designed to minimize metal variability as a source of bias in critical tests and are economical enough to be used for sales samples and batch records.
Options
Panels are available in:
- Materials: Steel and aluminum
- Finishes: Bare and pretreated
- Shapes: Most panels are flat and rectangular; however, special shapes such as automotive styling panels that mimic the sides of automobiles are also available. Custom panels can be manufactured to specifications.

Our production process is specifically tailored to minimize variability in metallic surfaces. All substrates are sourced directly from selected mills that control surface texture according to our specifications. With an inventory of over a million panels, 95% of orders can be shipped from stock.
